Soundness of Horses in Horse Inspection

A question about the requirement for a horse to pass the Horse Inspection for Para-Equestrian horses has been raised at times. The Para-Equestrian Committee would like to clarify that the same level of soundness must be required from Para horses as from Dressage horses, even for those only competing in walk. This is necessary both for the welfare of the horse and for the image of the sport.  The athletes are sometimes unbalanced themselves, which makes it even more important. The horse inspection also has to be done according to the veterinary regulations when it comes to footing, surroundings etc.

The President of the Ground Jury has the final word if a horse should be accepted or not, but it would have to be a very special case if a judge could overrule the Vet’s advice.  
 

Aptitud física del caballo en las inspecciones veterinarias

En diversas oportunidades, se han planteado los requisitos para que un caballo pase la inspección veterinaria de los caballos Para-Ecuestres. El Comité Para-Ecuestre quisiera aclarar que se debe requerir el mismo nivel de aptitud de los caballos Para-Ecuestres y de los caballos de Adiestramiento, incluso para aquellos que solo compiten al paso. Esto es necesario tanto para el bienestar del caballo como para la imagen del deporte. A veces, los atletas no mantienen el equilibrio, lo que lo hace aún más importante. La inspección veterinaria también se debe hacer de acuerdo con los reglamentos veterinarios en lo referente a la superficie, alrededores, etc.

El presidente del Jurado de Campo decide en última instancia si un caballo debe ser aceptado o no, pero solo en un caso muy especial un juez anularía la decisión de un veterinario.
