CHIEF RIDING INSTRUCTOR


The Department

The Singapore Turf Club recently set up a new Equestrian Department to oversee the running and operations of the Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre. The centre is expected to commence in March 2009.

The objectives of the centre is to promote riding as a sport - with its main focus to impart basic riding skills to children between the ages of 9 and 18 years old - and provide recreational riding opportunities to the general public.


The Job

You will:

- plan and propose riding programme for all ages and riding levels

- be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the riding schools including safety measures and precautions, supervision of stables/administrative/office staff and giving lessons

- re-educate retired racehorses for future equestrian use locally

- organize adult and junior riding camps, clinics and competitions as required


The Person

You should have:

- at least 5 years of solid experience in the running of an effective riding school

- British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor (BHSII) Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent qualification). Instructors with international competition experience will be preferred, although not critical

- ability to train/ re-school horses

- good knowledge in Equestrian riding and best practices in horse care and facilities management

- ability to train and develop staff

- strong interpersonal and communication skills


Terms of Employment

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An initial three-year contract employment will be offered to the successful candidate with an option for renewal subject to mutual agreement between the Club and the individual.

The selected candidate is expected to commence work in August 2008.
